Trust Your Gut

Your gut knows what’s up, TRUST THAT BITCH.

For the past few years I’ve been following a coaching couple online, pulled in by their light, their adventures, the “power couple” vibe that I dreamed of having one day. I always watched from a distance and admired the direction their lives were going.

As the pandemic extended through the months I quickly realized this couple, who claimed to be conscious leaders, were falling more and more down the conspiracy rabbit hole. The direction they were going left an icky feeling in my stomach, but I still kept watching. I may not like what this couple stands for, but they still embody a life I desire.

A life filled with travel, family, hosting retreats around the world, making a difference in the lives of others.

A couple of months ago one of the partners shared about a coaching opportunity she was opening with her best friend. I was curious. Was this my opportunity to network and learn from them?

I hesitated.

Why?

Because one of my biggest pet peeves about the coaching industry is when people are not transparent with their pricing, and these coaches were not transparent.

After watching their stories for a couple of months I decided to ignore my gut instinct to not waste my time and scheduled a call. The best friend called me and after an hour and a half discussion I felt deflated.

Were there good moments in our conversation, yes, but my gut was screaming, “don’t do this!”

So I listened and declined to hire them.

Fast forward to Halloween and this “conscious couple” culturally appropriated Indigenous people with their costume choice. Their follow-up to the response from their community, and the community as a whole, was doubling down on the pain and suffering they were causing. More tell tale signs of the direction I saw them taking through the pandemic.

My gut was right. She knew that these people weren’t the leaders they claim to be. She knew that they were people I shouldn’t admire.

She knew, and she begged me not to work with them.

Not only that, but there are other big name leaders who are coming to their defense. People that over the years have felt off to me. People who I have seen promoted in spaces I’ve been a part of, but left me unable to wrap my head around what they are offering.

It’s all coming full circle.

It’s all revealing what my intuition knew all along.

Our guts are powerful things. The energy they feel tells them which direction to lean. Whether we choose to listen is the biggest indicator on how in tune we are with our bodies. Tune in and listen. You know the truth by the way it feels.
